The politics of the new age is changing; the judgemental view of the public sphere has now shifted its focus from political logic to media logic i.e. Social Media and News Media play a vital role in shaping people’s political views, especially during key electoral periods. The words that you hear, post-truth, confirmation bias, algorithm hacking, Weapons Grade Communication Technology are not just meant for Netflix documentaries, they are as real as they get. Services

Political and Media Advisory

Chintan Centre has been fortunate enough to be working in the field of Political and Media advisory before the evolution of ICT in democratic day politics, and after the normalisation of ICT in in it as well. We were at the centre of Maharashtra’s revolution in digital journalism as we were the first ones to start a mobile journalism service back in the year 2000 where we sent real time news to our subscribers via SMS. This gave us an advantage to understand the ‘real’ impact of digital media on populous at large. We do not overestimate the power of social media in politics nor do we underestimate the role conventional media has to play in shaping public opinion. We do not focus on one part of political communication as we deeply understand that each aspect of political communication which is Social Media, Public Relation, Lobbying, Networking, Conventional News Media, Big Data, and Organisation play key roles in shaping modern day politics. Each aspect of political communication holds different weightage while laying out campaigns in different scenarios. We have explained the importance of each aspect of political communication in our programme ‘Political Communication 2030’ which will help you to create the most state of the art strategies for your political campaigns.

We have helped our clients to achieve their political, social, and personal goals by working closely with them. We believe that trust, confidentiality, and faith creates a strong bond between us and our clients. Our working philosophy has enabled us to work with different politicians from different parties to achieve their political & electoral goals. We help our clients to network, strategise campaigns, candidate selection for elections, set up their back offices using Peter Senge’s principles of learning organisation, create think tanks, provide solutions for daily political problems, and most importantly help them to manage political crises.

Media Research

In the age of Media Logic, any politician who wants to achieve optimum results while chasing his/her political goals, should apply EBCS (Evidence Based Communication Strategies) model to create-initiate-analyse- recalibrate-improvise-execute his/her political campaigns. In this model, the acts of creating, initiating, improvising, and executing the campaigns in continuous cycle is absolutely vital using state of the art methods of political communication. There are various research methods which are usually applied to assess the impact of one’s political campaigns on populous at large. Usually direct research methods which are applied are public opinion polling, focus groups and personal interviews. However since these are expensive methods, they are usually opted for during crucial times in electoral politics such as at the time of elections or pre candidate selection phase etc. But modern electoral politics is a daily game and you need to know how you’re being received by the electorate. To know this, people in the modern age have started relying on social media analytical tools such as twitter analytics or other sentimental analytics tools etc. which rely on social chatter as primary data. Our experience has shown us such analysis of one’s image is often misleading in the long run as the machine cannot efficiently differentiate between bots, paid propaganda channels, fake news sites and most importantly the consistency of opinions of people on micro issues and their voting patterns. However, our experience has shown that if the politician relies closely on newspaper and TV media analysis and how they’re being portrayed by the media, they will see a more long-run realistic picture of their image in the public. So if a politician wants to understand what the people think of him and assess the impact of his PR campaign on people at large, we always advise he should rely more on news coverage analysis reports for greater accuracy at cheaper costs.

We have been providing accurate media research reports to our clients which have helped them to continuously improvise on their PR strategy to achieve their optimum results. We deploy a 17 data point analytical research pattern with a mix approach of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies to create this reports. We namely use mix of thematic content analysis, discourse analysis, and semiotic analysis to create these reports.

Election Research

Election surveys are vital to better design the electoral campaigns. We aim to help our clients attain optimum results in the election and provide all the necessary support that is required to clinch victory for the party/candidate during the election.

Chintan Centre deals with opinion research, which is the systematic gathering and interpretation of information (data) about individuals or organizations using quantitative and qualitative research methods of applied social sciences to gain insight and support decision making which also has an implication on the election surveys and approval ratings.

This includes projects dealing with pre-election surveys and opinion polls. Surveys are conducted by our team, which cover all the crucial data-points of electoral behaviour. We designate proportional weightage to qualitative and quantitative research methods while conducting election survey. Qualitative research provides data beyond statistical measures and percentages, and focuses on acquiring a more in-depth understanding of electorate’s opinion on a given subject or issue while Quantitative Survey research helps to understand moods of the different pools of electorate. Thus, the accuracy of our election surveys essentially helps the clients to plan their election campaigns better and understand the electoral behaviour in the present. We aim to help our clients, be it a party or a candidate, attain optimum results in the election and provide all the necessary analytical support to ensure victory in the election.

Social Research

We at Chintan Centre believe that social research has a crucial role to play in guiding social planning. Adequate social planning depends for its success on a systematic knowledge about the social resources and liabilities, of the people and their culture; of their similarities and differences, of organizations and operative controls, of their needs, hopes, aspirations and problems. It is obvious that social research has direct implications for social welfare. By virtue of the deeper understanding of the casual nexus underlying various social ‘maladies’, social research provides a secure basis for effective remedial measure.

Social research, by affording first-hand knowledge about working of society and its institutions, gives us a greater power of control over the social phenomena and action. Thus, social research may be visualized as having practical implications for formal and informal types of leadership, patterns on influence and reform in different spheres of society. Our social research on different topics and demographics can help corporations in designing advertisement strategies, Politicians in planning electoral campaigns and would also help the general population to better understand recent trends subjects, because, when social science research findings become a part of public knowledge, a general awareness about the situations and challenges increases.
